At Catalyst Endurance Coaching, endurance training is built on physiology, data, and decades of experience — not guesswork. Whether you're preparing for your first sprint triathlon, chasing an Ironman PR, or building toward an ultramarathon, our online endurance coaching combines cutting-edge data analysis with a sports physician's understanding of how your body actually adapts. Every plan is personalized, every workout has a purpose, and every athlete works directly with Coach Ted.

What Is Endurance Coaching?

Endurance coaching is a structured partnership between an athlete and a qualified coach designed to improve performance in sports that demand sustained effort — triathlon, running, cycling, and multisport racing. A good endurance coach blends exercise physiology, biomechanics, and recovery science with a clear understanding of the individual athlete's life, body, and goals.

Endurance sports coaching is not the same as a downloaded training plan. A generic plan gives every athlete the same workouts. Personalized coaching looks at your physiology, training history, recovery patterns, and race calendar — then builds a plan that adapts week by week to keep you progressing without breaking down. The result is faster, more durable, and more sustainable performance than any cookie-cutter program can deliver.

Online Endurance Coaching for Triathlon, Running & Cycling

We coach across the three core endurance disciplines, and the multisport racing that combines them. All coaching is delivered online, with in-person sessions available for athletes in the Cape Cod and Greater Boston area.

Running

5K to Ultramarathon From first-time 5K finishers to Boston qualifiers and ultra runners, our run coaching covers pacing, gait, threshold development, and race-day execution.

Triathlon

Sprint to Full Distance Ironman Coaching across all four triathlon distances, with race-specific plans for swim, bike, run, transition, and fueling.

Cycling

Road and Gravel Power-based training for road cyclists and gravel racers, built around FTP, critical power, and event demands.

How Catalyst Coaching Works — The Catalyst Coaching Cycle

Every athlete we coach moves through the same six-stage cycle, repeating across training blocks to drive continuous improvement.

Assess — We start with a physiological assessment to identify your strengths, limiters, and training zones.

Design — A personalized training plan is built around your goals, race calendar, and life schedule.

Perform — You execute structured workouts with full guidance, support, and unlimited communication.

Review — Power, pace, heart rate, and subjective feedback are analyzed weekly to track adaptation.

Recover — Recovery is programmed, not assumed. Every plan includes deliberate recovery phases.

Adapt — Plans evolve based on data, recovery, and life — never a fixed-and-forgotten template.

Hunter W. - Before Catalyst, I never thought of myself as a coached athlete, I would just train through things like copying workouts from other athletes and random youtube videos hoping that it would add up to something. When I joined Catalyst, Coach Ted brought a level of intention to all of my training. He tracked things like my data, and made sure to adjust my training when I needed it and on top of that explained the reasoning behind the plan. Within weeks my performance and recovery jumped and I could see through my workouts and numbers that I was making fitness gains. Ironman has been a goal for a long time and for the first time, I feel like I have a genuine shot to get this right.

  • An endurance coach designs and manages a personalized training program built around your physiology, race goals, and lifestyle. The coach analyzes your performance data, adjusts workouts based on your progress and recovery, provides race-day strategy, and supports you through training plateaus, setbacks, and breakthroughs. A good endurance coach saves you years of trial and error by giving you the right training at the right time.

  • At Catalyst Endurance Coaching, monthly packages range from $200 to $400 per month depending on the level of support and analysis you need. In-person testing and form analysis is available for athletes within a 60-mile radius of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

  • We coach across all three endurance disciplines — running (5K through ultramarathon), cycling (road and gravel), and triathlon (sprint through full Ironman) — as well as multisport events that combine them.

  • Every package includes a personalized annual training plan, weekly workouts delivered through TrainingPeaks, sport-specific resistance programming, benchmark testing, and direct communication with Coach Ted. Higher-tier packages add video form analysis, the Athlete Archetype Assessment, weekly data review, and recovery monitoring.

  • A downloaded plan is static — written for a generic athlete and never adjusted. Online endurance coaching is dynamic — your plan adapts every week based on how you're recovering, how training is going, and what life is throwing at you. You also get a real coach to answer questions, review form, and adjust strategy in real time.

  • The Athlete Archetype Assessment is our proprietary physiological profile that identifies whether you're an aerobic, balanced, or anaerobic athlete. It uses field-based testing in swim, bike, and run, and produces a personalized training plan matched to your specific physiology rather than a generic template.
